First Ever Muskingum County Reverse Raffle
The first ever Muskingum County reverse raffle event took place this evening.
The sold-out event was held at the Veteran’s Building at the Fairgrounds to benefit the 4-H clubs of Muskingum County. 298 tickets were given away for a $100 donation, with each ticket having a chance to win $10,000. Muskingum County reverse raffle committee chairman, Jared Dosch explained how the reverse raffle works.
"So what we’re doing is a reverse raffle, so tickets are being eliminated, we’re gonna work backwards up to the end of the line. In a traditional raffle, you want your ticket to be pulled out, with the reverse raffle you wanna wait until the end. The prizes get bigger and it’s worth the wait. For the reverse raffle it’s gonna be cash prizes ranging from $100 and then it’s gonna scale all the way upward. Our grand prize is $10,000 cash tonight."
Proceeds from the 2014 reverse raffle will be donated to the Muskingum County 4-H program. The committee plans to use the funds to provide scholarships and awards for the youth and volunteers, educational and promotional materials, and also insurance for members and volunteers.
"We appreciate all the support from the community as usual. We’ve got a sold-out turn out tonight and we look forward to seeing who wins the grand prize."
Dosch says they’ve learned from other counties who have put on the annual reverse raffle and they are excited to finally bring it to Muskingum County.
