ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum Recreation Center hosted the first ever Family Fall Fest and Zombie Fun Run Sunday, October 14th.

The event took place from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Ohio University Zanesville and then the run started at 5:00 p.m. Becky Weir, the Event and Program Manager of the Muskingum Recreation Center, said they just wanted everyone to come out and have a great time.

“Well it took a lot of volunteers to help out and a lot of staff to put it all together and then of course just the people coming out and having a great time and enjoying it and maybe also going into the Muskingum Recreation Center to see what it’s all about,” Weir said.

The event had a wide variety of entertainment from a bounce house and face painting to an obstacle course, food vendors and music. The money raised from the event will be going towards programming such as a kids ninja fitness class coming up.

“Kids are my heart so any time they can come out, have a good time, not sit behind a TV or a thumb on a game and actually do something active and physical to get themselves moving will benefit anyone,” Weir said.

They had 50 people registered ahead of time for the Zombie Fun Run. Weir said they expected even more people to sign up and overall the turnout was great. You can find more information about the Muskingum Recreation Center and future classes and events by going to their website.
