“Flash” the Terrier: WHIZ & Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — He’s playful, two years old, and ready to be adopted.
Flash is a two-year-old terrier, pays attention and is trained. He’s at the Animal Shelter Society on Zanesville’s west side.
“We believe he used to be part of the cell dog program and that might be where he learned some of his commands. He can sit and he can shake his paw, and, what else can he do?” says Deb Bergeron, Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, turning to ask a question of Kit Hendershot, a Kennel Tech.
“He knows “down”. He will respond to a very not loud voice, but strong voice. You don’t have to be mean to him or anything like that, all you have to do is just say ‘hey, down. Sit.’ Give him a good command and he’s fine,” Hendershot said.
Flash has been at the Animal Shelter Society for about two months.
“We would love for someone to come by, lots of people to come by and look at Flash, pick him out, play with him in his playroom, have Kit to be with him or one of our people on the floor. We really think he just does not like being in the kennel. A lot of times when people walk by, he jumps up on it and saying in his dog voice, ‘Hey, take me out of here. I don’t want to be in here,'” says Bergeron.
The Shelter Society is at 1430 Newark Road west of Zanesville, or contact them at (740) 452-1077.
