Flu Shot Health Clinics

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Tuesday, October 2nd was the first of four flu clinics that the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department are putting together for the community.
They are offering a drive thru vaccination for residents ages three and older. The first clinic was at the Perry Township Fire Department from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and all people had to do was show up, follow the signs, register and pull through to the tent and receive the vaccination.
Tiffany McFee the Director ofCommunicable Disease Prevention and Control said, “We also utilize this as an emergency preparedness exercise that gives us a chance to work with our community partners to make sure in the event that we have some kind of an outbreak or a need to vaccinate a large portion of our population our partners as well as ourselves know what to do and how to handle the situation.”
The flu can be dangerous for infants under the age of six months, elderly individuals, as well as anyone who has a condition that can weaken their immune system. McFee recommends you get the flu shot as soon as you can.
“It’s really important because the flu is not serious for everybody but it is serious for a lot of people so preventing the flu is our number one goal at this point and getting a flu vaccine if you are able is the number one way to prevent the flu,” McFee said. “So you’re not only protecting yourself but you’re protecting other people in the community that you come in contact with that may not be able to get a flu vaccine.”
The next clinic is on October 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Southtown Gym. If you can’t make it to that one you can go to their website or Facebook and find information about the two other clinics.
