Food Collection Exceeds Goal

A joint food drive by the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol and New Concord Police Department surpasses the goal for the event.

The agencies had hoped to collect 200 pounds of food at last week’s event. However, State Patrol Sgt. Melanie Appleman, said the drive brought in more than 1300 pounds in addition to cash donations.

The food drive was held at Riesbeck’s Food Market in New Concord where the store assembled bags valued at $5 and $10 prior to the event to make it easier for customers to help out.

So many people donated the store had to make more bags during the event.

The Highway Patrol and the New Concord Police Department thanks the community for their support and contributions.

All food and money will be donated to the College Drive Presbyterian Church Food Pantry.
