FOP Endorses Sharrer for Mayor

The local Fraternal Order of Police is endorsing a mayoral candidate for the November election.

The FOP Zane Lodge #5 is endorsing current City Councilman, republican Rob Sharrer for mayor of Zanesville. In 2012, the FOP did not endorse a candidate, so Sharrer said this came as a surprise.

“With everything that’s going on in law enforcement around the country right now, it’s important that they know that their leader is behind them, and is supportive of them, and I think the current administration’s done that, but I believe that they saw the passion in me and how much I supported the local law enforcement,” Sharrer said.

After spending time serving the city as councilman, Sharrer said he’s very honored and humbled to have such a strong organization backing him in the race for mayor.

“I’m excited to get on the campaign trail, get out and see people and meet people, have different fundraisers, or different functions where I’m able to go out and speak to different groups and organizations,” he said.

Sharrer is running against the democratic incumbent, current Mayor, Jeff Tilton.
