Forest “Mike” Shuster

Forest M. “Mike” Shuster, 69, of Crooksville, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at the OSU Wexner Medical Center, surrounded by the love and care of his family and Hospice of Central Ohio. Born on December 1, 1955, in Zanesville, he was a proud son to his late parents, Francis H. and Ruth (Rinehart) Shuster. A dedicated worker, Mike spent many years contributing his skills to the local area potteries, with a significant tenure at the Hull Pottery. His commitment to his work was matched only by his commitment to his community. Mike was an active member of the Perry County Coon Hunters Club, Trimble Twp Coon Hunters and Beagle Club, and a devout member of the Word of God Church in Ironspot. Through these associations, he not only shared his hobbies but also his heart, creating a legacy of fellowship and service. Mike’s love for sports was more than just a pastime; it was a way of life. An avid Ohio State and Ohio University Sports fan, he could often be found cheering on his favorite teams with the same energy and outlook he applied to every aspect of his life. His enthusiasm was apparent, and game days were special, but it was in the great outdoors where Mike truly felt at home. Coon hunting, racing, hunting, and fishing were not just hobbies for Mike; they were the threads that wove the tapestry of his life’s most cherished moments. His love for these hobbies brought him into the company of many, from his coon hunting buddies to his comrades from the dirt track, each friendship a testament to his warm and welcoming nature. Mike was the proud father of his daughter Nicole (Josh) Dalrymple and son Shawn Shuster, but above all, Mike’s most treasured role was that of a grandfather. He adored his grandchildren, Chelsey Embry (Corbyn Browning), Connor Shuster, and Cody Wilson. Mike’s legacy is also carried on by his sister Wilma Haught, special friend Eldon McArtor, his best friend and mother of his children, Jane Smalley and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Francis. Calling hours will be held Saturday April 19, 2025, from 12pm – 3pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville, where funeral services will begin at 3pm with Pastor Marc Caton officiating.
