Former Maysville Panther chasing Olympic dreams

COLUMBUS, Ohio -Â When former Maysville Panther J.C. Murasky stepped onto Ohio State’s campus as a freshman, the odds were stacked against him.
“He’s somebody that worked his way from book scholarship to full-ride athlete,” said Ashley Muffet, Murasky’s throws coach at Ohio State.
From a walk-on to an All-American, the shot put standout has done more than simply defy the odds. He’s won two first-team All-American awards, two Big Ten titles and earned three first-team All-Big Ten selections as a Buckeye.
The success has given Murasky a brand new opportunity: he was selected to the residency program at the United State Olympic Training Center to continue his career as a thrower.
From Southtown to Columbus to Chula Vista, California, Murasky now has his sights set on the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. His journey begins Saturday.
