Former Muskingum Co. Corrections Officer Pleads Guilty to Felony Charges

ZANESVILLE, Ohio–A former Muskingum County corrections officer has pleaded guilty to charges in connection to an incident involving a former girlfriend.
According to the Muskingum County Prosecutors Office, 50-year-old Bryan Catlin of Zanesville appeared Friday before Muskingum County Common Pleas Judge Gerald Anderson where he pleaded guilty to several charges including Kidnapping, a felony of the first degree, Domestic Violence, a misdemeanor of the first degree, Obstructing Official Business, a felony of the fifth degree with a Firearm Specification and Improperly Handling Firearms in a Motor Vehicle a felony of the fifth degree.
Catlin was scheduled to stand trial on Tuesday, October 28, on rape charges.
Officials said on May 24, the victim called the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and reported that Catlin was in possession of a firearm, that Catlin had abused her, and that his mental state was of concern to her.
The victim reported that she and Catlin began arguing in the early hours of May 22, and that there was an altercation. Officials said Catlin was arrested later that day following a nearly three hour standoff with law enforcement at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Catlin is facing up to 16 years in prison in addition to registering as a violent offender for 10 years. His sentencing is scheduled for a later date.
