Four Areas Unite to Form Tri-Valley Joint Fire District

DRESDEN, OH- The Village of Dresden, Cass Township, Jefferson Township in Muskingum County, and Washington Township in Coshocton County have come together to create the Tri-Valley Joint Fire District.

This newly formed district will continue to provide fire protection and emergency services to all the areas previously served by the Dresden Fire Department. The formation of the Tri-Valley Joint Fire District is expected to improve financial stability for the fire departments.

“It’s a way for smaller fire departments to survive. We’re still making runs, we have the volume, but we don’t necessarily have the tax money that bigger cities do to operate. I think this is going to help smaller fire departments, if they merge together to form a bigger department,” Dresden Fire Chief Harold Wolford said.

Residents will be pleased to know that the transition to the new district will not result in any additional costs. The Dresden Fire Department’s equipment building will be leased to the Tri-Valley Joint Fire District, allowing for a smooth transition with no disruption in service.

“Right off, there won’t be a lot of changes. It’s basically a name change in the beginning. We’re going to still have the same equipment, and the same personnel. The tax mileage is going to stay the same, until the board establishes and sees what we may need to do in the future,” Chief Wolford said.
