Four Students Charged In School Threat Cases

Muskingum County Prosecutor Mike Haddox held a news conference Friday morning to talk about charges in connection with recent school threats. Four students have been charged. Three of them face one count of inducing panic. The fourth students faces two counts of illegal conveyance of a deadly weapon into a school safety zone and one count of aggravated menacing. The students were from Zanesville High School, West Muskingum High School, West Muskingum Middle School and John Glenn High School. The names of the students were not released. But here is more detail on the charges and the age of the students involved:
2/16 14 y/o WMMS made comments of “it’s time to die” and “time to shoot up school”, 1 count inducing panic a felony of the second degree, could be locked up until age of 21
2/16 15 y/o John Glenn threatened to put a grenade in a teachers desk and threatened to hurt a student if the student told on him, 1 count of inducing panic, could be locked up until age of 21
2/20 15 y/o ZHS threatened to shoot up school, 1 count inducing panic felony of the second degree, could be locked up until age of 21
2/22 16 y/o WMHS brought two knives to school threatened to stab another student, 2 counts of illegal possession of deadly weapon in school zone and 1 count of aggravated menacing, could be locked up until age of 21
No schools closed or delay, attendance down at some schools
The news conference was held in the office of Muskingum County Prosecutor Mike Haddox along with Sheriff Matt Lutz and Police Chief Tony Coury.
