Free Family Fun

A day of family fun took a step back in time.

The Mark Twain Family Fun Day took place Saturday afternoon at Blue Rock State Park. The day included educational booths, crafts and games, many of which Organizer Nicole Hafer said have an old-fashioned theme – similar to those that Mark Twain may have experienced in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

"We don’t have a bounce house or anything like that," explained Hafer. "It’s more traditional type of games."

A more traditional display was Farrier Jason Bromley. Bromley showcased his horseshoe making and blacksmith talents to an ever-growing audience.

"I get a lot of people ask ‘how many Farriers there are around and there’s not many people that do this right?’ but there are actually quit a few Farriers around still and there is quit a need for good horse shoes," said Bromley.

Bromley competes internationally as part of the American Farrier Team. He said there are only 4 members on the team- 2 of which are from Ohio.

The Family Fun Day is organized through the ‘Volunteers in Parks’ Organization.
