Free Fresh Produce Market At First Baptist Church

Zanesville, OH-

Eastside Community Ministry and First Baptist Church of South Zanesville are hosting their free fresh produce market Friday.

Every fourth Friday of the month, you can drive out to First Baptist Church and get a ton of free food. There is a huge need for food assistance currently due to the price of food going up around the country.

“We have been doing this for years in partnership with First Baptist Church. We have noticed in our food pantry this year a 150% increase since January in the amount of people that need our food services. So, we have experienced the same increase here at the produce markets. We have been serving over 200 households and we plan to serve 200 households again tomorrow,” said executive director of Eastside Community Ministry, Jamie Trout.

All the food is donated by Mid-Ohio Food Bank in Columbus. If you have never been to this event before, they try to make it as smooth and easy as possible for the community.

“We do a drive through style. We have been doing that for a couple years now, and we try to make it easy. We just ask that you bring identification and no more than two households per car because it is a lot of food that you’re going to receive tomorrow. So, make sure you have room and you’ll just pull up here, and we will have plenty of volunteers to direct you. We are going to register while you’re in your vehicle and pull you around and volunteers will load your food right in your vehicle,” stated Trout.

Registration starts at 8 am on Friday at the church and they expect to be handing out food around 8:30 or 9 am.
