Friends of New Concord Host Their Third Community Day

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – A New Concord based non-profit brings the community together for their third annual Community Day this Saturday. Friends of New Concord Incorporated is hosting the free day-long event at the New Concord War Memorial Park with live music, putt-putt, axe throwing, a rock-climbing wall and more.

“Oh, it’s going to be a lot of fun. We start off with the fun run in the morning. It’s for children, adults, everybody, it’s a mile run, it’s free. That starts at 9 [a.m.], And then we move into vendor village where we have over 40 vendors all selling their goods and that’s between 10 and 4,” said Kristin Centa, president of Friends of New Concord Inc. “And we also have lunch with tons of food trucks. So, come in if you want to get some really good food. That goes on all day long. ”

The event will also feature a beer garden with drink options from Guernsey Brewhouse and Georgetown Winery. This event takes a years worth of preparation with the ultimate goal of bringing the Muskingum University campus and village communities together.

“All the students and the town people together. The university, we have a shop walk for them from noon to 2. And they vist twelve different, thirteen different shops, and they get their card stamped, and they get to know that we have a lot more in New Concord than what you see with the naked eye. Just got to get in there and dig,” Centa said.

The event is free to the public but with limited seating you may want to bring a folding chair for watching the live performances. More information can be found on the Friends of New Concord’s Facebook page.
