From Farmer’s Market to Business

A local plant grower is expanding business in a somewhat unlikely place.

In the middle of homes on Ohio Street, Casey Wilson has taken an old floral business and made it an ever growing greenhouse. Until this year he and his family only dealt with farmer’s markets.

"We expanded so much that we figured we better open up the store so that people can see the varieties we get each year," said Wilson.

Wilson said he spends seven days at Herb ‘N Perennials a week taking care of the over 260 varieties of plants. Already he’s making plans for next spring.

"We grow 100% of what we sell. We do travel around to different hybridizers to get the very latest as far as perennials and we’re looking to lead Muskingum County as far as the perennial growers go," said Wilson.

He said they’ll start dealing butterfly bushes and planting mums for the fall.
