From Owls to Falcons, A Day of Learning with the Ohio School of Falconry

ROSEVILLE, OH- Today, thanks to the Muskingum County Library, the Roseville Historical Society played host to a fascinating free event titled “Birds of a Feather,” that was presented by the Ohio School of Falconry.
Attendees gathered to learn about owls and other raptors, gaining insight into these majestic birds and their unique role in nature.
“I love education programs, I love sitting there and seeing the faces of everybody that is in the crowd, always giving them an experience they wouldn’t regularly get a chance to have elsewhere, these are birds that you are not necessarily going to be able to get up close and personal with out in the wild, in fact you don’t want to get up close and personal with them but it’s being able to introduce that and show differentiation between them,” said Lead Raptor Educator, Sean O’Hara.
The event offered an up-close look at several raptors, providing an educational and engaging experience for bird enthusiasts and families alike. The Ohio School of Falconry shared information about the birds’ behaviors, habitats, and the art of falconry.
“We do a myriad of different programs and we can cater our programs to different events, we can do team building, we can do just purely education, and when it comes to working with the public there is no minimum or maximum age, we can work with even small children in like the two to four year old range and still see that they can get something out of this, and the idea is to keep them aware of what’s happening out in nature, we get so tied to our social media, to our cellphones, that often times we forget to look up and see what is around us,” said O’Hara.
