Fuel Spill Update

The Washington Township Fire Department responded to a large fuel spill at the Adamsville Road Westbound off ramp of I-70 Wednesday morning. Washington Township Fire Chief Gene Hanning says 75 gallons of fuel spilled. He says the fuel truck was heading west on I-70 to Dayton when it struck a spring in the road which flipped up and punctured the truck’s tank. Chief Hanning says the driver took the next exit and that is where the fuel leaked out. Hanning says his crews were able to gather the fuel in a mud puddle and then clean it up. He added that a contamination team was also called to remove some fuel contaminated mud. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency was also told about the fuel spill which happened just after 6:00 a.m. There were no injures reported.
