Gant Stadium Upgrades Unveiled

ZANESVILLE, OH

Thanks to a generous grant from the Straker Foundation and money from Zanesville’s general fund, Gant Stadium received updates that the town has been seeking for quite some time. This includes new lights, new gravel for parking, and a new playground, among other features on the property. But if you ask Zanesville Mayor Don Mason, as much as the business about the field itself, it’s just about the cultural impact that Gant Stadium has on the community.

“Gant Stadium is very important to our community, not just from an athletic standpoint, but from a cultural standpoint. We have a certain responsibility of continuing to invest and make sure it’s respectful and very nice, and actually putting in new lights really made it safer” said Mason.

Muskingum Valley Old Timers Association committee member Pat Bollinger added, ““We got new grass in here a couple of years ago. We got the new batting cages that we’ve got in here. We’ve done all the new painting and we’ve done all the patch work and everything that we’ve done in the stadium itself, and with the mayor being on board with everything, it just makes our job a lot easier.”

A game followed between the Zanesville Senior Legion and the Junior Pioneers, with the Pioneers winning it, 12-6.
