Garage Sale to Help Support Troops Overseas

A local organization is doing what they can for the troops stationed overseas.
Operation Spirit 4 Troops is a military troop support ministry that sends care packages around the world to our troops. This weekend the organizations is hosting their 7th Annual Fall Garage to support their cause.
“So this is our annual fall garage sale that we put on every year and the community comes out to support us and it pretty much covers our holiday Christmas care package shipping and proceeds to buy items to put in the stockings. / The average box commercial rate is about $15,” Melodie Pittman director of Operation Spirit.
Several items will be sent to the troops as well as donations that can be made to send to the brave men and women protecting our country overseas. To pay for the shipping prices, the garage sale is putting out many items donated and purchased from clothes to household items.
“I just got some photos in the mail where they got some of our packages and some other packages from other people and they have really big grins on them. Just cause they are in South Korea they’re still away from home,” explained Pittman. “A lot of them are young and its a 9 month rotation so you don’t really get to come home during that 9 months unless it’s an emergency, so you know I think it’s really going to light up their Christmas.”
Operation Spirit 4 Troop’s Garage Sale will take place Friday from 10-5pm and Saturday from 10am-2pm at 3290 Bowers Lane off West Military Road.
