Gas Prices Drop Below $3.00 a Gallon

Ohio gas prices have dropped significantly this week and in Zanesville gas prices are under three dollars a gallon for the first time in nearly a year.

In Monday’s Survey from Auto Club AAA, gas prices have dropped 17 cents from this time last week and area motorists are noticing the happy change.

"Yeah, I noticed that the prices were lower and of course it’s a benefit to everybody, save some money," said Greg Harmon, a local motorist.

"Oh it’s great, you can get out, you can go a little more, it sure makes it easier on a pocket book when you are going back and forth to work everyday," added Marietta traveler, Mary Smith.

"Oh it’s great, I drive for a living, I drive approximately 60,000 miles a year, I am an industrial service man, it makes a difference," said Regis Smith, an avid driver from Pennsylvania.

"For almost 9 gallons, it would have probably been close to 40 dollars, at least the last few months is what I am used to," explained Maryland Driver, Joe Ludas, who was traveling through Ohio on Monday.

AAA experts said prices are going to continue to fall because of ample fuel supplies, lower crude oil prices and refineries shifting to the less expensive winter-blend gasoline during production.
