Genesis Hospital Holds Christmas Tree Lighting Honoring Loved Ones

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Genesis Hospital in Zanesville will soon be lit up for the holidays..
Their annual Tree of Love lighting ceremony takes place this Friday at 6 p.m.
Trees are decorated in memory of a loved one who has passed away. One Genesis volunteer says the event is a great way to bring the community together.
“This is our 33rd year of putting these trees up and it’s one of the best projects i’ve ever worked on because people buy these trees in memory or in honor of their families and it gets families together — it helps people get through the grieving process. “
Vice President for the volunteers Jon Brooks says over 500 volunteer hours make the event a reality.
“It was cold wednesday when we put the lights on but it’s so rewarding to finally get it done and then see the results of it when everything lights up this Friday at 6 o’clock.”
The tree lighting will be part of many events at the hospital.
Trees can be purchased to decorate for $100 until November 20. Poinsettias can also be purchased for a $25 donation. A bulb for the Tree of Love can also be purchased for a donation of $5.
