George “Bill” W. Whittington, 76, of Frazeysburg, died Monday evening, April 29, 2024, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center in Newark.
Born January 9, 1948 in Newark, Ohio, he was a son of the late Earnest W. & Pearl (Barnett) Whittington. Bill proudly volunteered for the United States Army and served during Vietnam. He worked for and retired as a tool and die maker for Rockwell International and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles AERIE 387 Newark. Bill was a hard worker and could fix anything, he wasn’t a “jack of all trades”, he was an expert of all trades. If he wasn’t fixing something or tinkering in his garage, he was spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly.
Surviving is his loving wife, Linda (Desarro) Whittington whom he married August 16, 2011; son, Gabe (Christina) Whittington of Newark; daughter Emily (Casey) Mcintire of Frazeysburg; step-daughter, Toni (Brian) McLoughlin of Zanesville; fourteen grandchildren, Paige, Amber, Connor, Clay, Jake, Nina, Mollie, Cable, Chase, Olivia, Tyler, Kimberly, Isaac, and Foster; five great grandchildren, Lillian, Maxwell, Syrus, Ezra and Atlas; brother, Earl Whittington of Granville and his faithful dog, Lucy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Whittington and five siblings.
Family and friends may call from NOON to 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the funeral home with Minister Sam Dunn officiating. Bill Will be laid to rest in Frazeysburg Cemetery beside his son, Matthew.
