Geraldine “Gerry” Catherine Pontious (September 27, 1931 – April 9, 2012)

Geraldine “Gerry” Pontious, 80 of Crooksville passed away April 9, 2012 at New Lexington Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Newark, OH September 27, 1931 a daughter of the late Grover Sr. and Louise Dobson Browning. She drove bus for Crooksville Local Schools for eleven years and Perry County Community School for eleven years. Gerry started the Tuesday and Thursday dinners for the Crooksville High School football team and formerly attended the Methodist Church in Shawnee.
She is survived by four sons Robert (Renae) Pontious of Wilmington, NC, Bryan (Alice) Pontious of Crooksville, Mark Pontious of Tampa, FL, and Dan Pontious of Crooksville; one daughter Debbie (Mike) Casto of Pataskala; two brothers John (Susan) Browning of Crooksville and Dwight (Norma Jean) Browning of Vermillion, OH; one sister Ruth Van Horn of McConnelsville; 9 grandchildren Sean, Michelle, David, Adam, Kaitlin, Jason Pontious, Seth, Skye and Brandon Casto; four great grandchildren Roman, Logan, Benjamin and Hannah Pontious.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Pearl J. “Junior” Pontious on November 10, 2009; two brothers Grover Jr. and Luther “Red” Browning; one sister Delores Lloyd.
Calling hours will be held 5-8pm on Thursday April 12, 2012 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 207 BURLEY STREET CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Brisker officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
