Getting in Shape for the New Year

Just two days into the new year and gyms around the country are filled with people keeping their resolutions to get in shape.
And while some find it difficult to keep up the reps throughout the year, member of the Muskingum Rec Center Anne Agin told us fitness has always been a huge part of her life but, her New Year’s Resolution is to come to the gym more regularly.
“The older you get the heart becomes such a big issue. I have family history of heart issues and I am just bound and determined to not let that bring me down. So the more I can do to stay fit, the more I can keep my heart healthy, strong I will be here at this gym or wherever to exercise. It’s that important to me.”
Agin said she likes working out at the Rec Center because of the cleanliness and wide range of equipment. 80 year-old Paul Kuehner said he works out and avoids the couch.
“it is very important to stay active in fitness and if you can’t come to the gym go outside and do something. Lift something, dig a garden or do something, just keep your body active. Don’t sit around and play games and watch TV and stuff like that. There is a time for that but, you got to be active. That’s what you have to be in this life.”
It’s not as easy for everyone to work out as Anne and Paul, so if you’re having trouble keeping your get fit resolution, you can call the MRC for tips and advice on making it to the gym more consistently at (740) 454-4767.
