Getting your Dog License
Starting Monday, December 1 you can get your dog registered in Muskingum County.
It is required under the Ohio Revised Code to have your dog registered with your county. Deputy Auditor, Katie Settles, said it’s that time of year to get your new dog tags. You have from now until January 31 to purchase the tags without a late fee.
To help promote the sale of the tags this year the animal shelter is cutting the adoption fee of a 2-month old puppy in half.
"This is a great promotion both for the shelter and for the promotion of selling dog tags," Jody Murray said. "It’s just to kind of a reminder for people, this is the time of year that you need to do that. And the auditor’s office has gotten a really nice gathering of puppy things"
A single year tag costs $10 with a three year costing $30 and a permanent costing $100. Settles explained to us what the permanent dog tag means.
"On the permanent it’s good for that dog only," Settles said. "You cannot transfer it to a different dog, so you would never have to buy another tag for that dog again."
As for the puppy, you can adopt him starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday. And here is a full list of places where you can register your dog.
