Gibson’s overtime goal lands Bishops in regional final

Rosecrans

LOGAN, Ohio – Rosecrans senior forward Michael Gibson scored two minutes into overtime to lift the Bishops over South Webster, 1-0, and into their third straight regional soccer championship.

Rosecrans recorded 15 shots on net; Bishop keeper Keagan McLaughlin had nine saves in the shutout effort. Joe Goggin assisted the lone goal of the game.

Rosecrans will play Grandview Heights Saturday at noon at White Field in Newark. This marks the third straight year the Bishops and Bobcats will meet with a trip to the state tournament on the line. Grandview Heights won a 2-1 decision in 2014 en route to a state championship, while the Bishops coasted to a 5-1 win in 2015.
