ZANESVILLE, Ohio- It’s that time of the year again. It’s Girl Scout cookie season.

Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Community Development Manager Elizabeth Lewis said there are three phases in Girl Scout cookie sales.

“The first phase is ending tonight. And that the phase where girls go out and they have an order form. They go to talk to friends and family. Maybe a parent takes it to work and gets orders. What will start tomorrow is the go getter phase. Each individual girl in each troop set a goal for themselves of what they want to achieve. And if they haven’t achieved that today, for the next two or three weeks they’ll go out and try to reach that goal with a different order form. Valentine’s weekend we start our booths sale phase,” said Lewis.

Lewis said buying cookies helps the girls develop key skills like goal setting, business ethics, people skills, decision making and money management.

“The cookie program is really what’s funding the Girl Scouts and their troops for the whole year,” said Lewis.

Traditional Girl Scout cookies will remain $4 a box and the gluten- free cookies are priced at $5 each.
