Girl Scout Cookies Arrive In Zanesville

Hundreds of cases of Girl Scout cookies have arrived for one local troop.

467 cases came in for Girl Scout troop #1794; that translates to over 5,600 boxes of cookies consisting of "Thin Mints", "Samoas" and "Dos-I-Dos."

Some of the troop members helped unload the cookies from four large vehicles.

Troop leader Sarah Gantzer said the troop will be setting up "cookie booths" outside of chain stores for those who still want them.

"Cookie booths run basically the first four weekends in March, so some are on Friday night, Saturday, Sunday, so every weekend you’ll probably see Girl Scouts out selling cookies," said Gantzer.

Thanks to a donation from the History Channel’s "Pawn Stars," at least 700 boxes of those cookies will be sent to soldiers stationed in Afghanistan.

Gantzer hopes more people will be willing to donate boxes to the troops.

"About 50 cases total right now are schedule to be sent before booth sales, so people will also be able to buy cookies to donate when they see us outside Wal-Mart or Kroger or anything, too," added Gantzer.

Although the final numbers aren’t counted, Gantzer was told troop #1794 sold the most cookies between Muskingum and Perry counties.
