Giving Tuesday
We’ve had a day for giving thanks, we’ve had two days for deals, and now we have a day for giving back.
Giving Tuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back to your community where businesses, families, charities, and more come together for one purpose — to celebrate generosity while giving back. Executive Director of The United Way, Meg Deedrick, says there are plenty of ways to give back to the community — and even the smallest donation can make a huge difference.
"And it takes very little, a dollar a week can make a significant impact in the community and the areas of income and education and healthcare in a variety of different organizations, so we just want to raise that awareness to say ‘you know what, give a gift this year that has a real impact both for you and for the community’."
And Kim Hosler, the Executive Director at the Carr Center, says they’ve teamed up with an organization that will help them raise funds on Giving Tuesday that go directly toward programs within their Facilities.
"We sort of launched our own campaign, and we partnered with an organization called network for good and they are assisting us in terms of they’re providing matching funds for whatever people donate to the Carr Center, directly through on our website or on our Facebook page, they are providing matching funds to the Carr Center for this day, up to the end of today."
