Glennara Lou “Sug” Dickey, 88, of Cambridge, peacefully passed away Thursday (June 13, 2024) at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born May 8, 1936 in Waterloo, daughter of the late Ophard G. Clarkston and Viola D. (Meadows) Clarkston.

A graduate of Cambridge High School, Glennara had worked at NCR for thirty years, where she had been a union steward representative. She later retired from Detroit Diesel after a short time there.

She was heavily involved with CASA and was a big help with Kim’s Kids World. She also involved with Secret Santa and with the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center.

Glennara enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, ginseng hunting, and gardening (especially her tomatoes). She raised foxes and raccoons. She loved her hummingbirds. Her favorite thing was sitting around the fire.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Abner Clarkston, Gomer Clarkston, and Freddy Jones; three sisters, Jean Boggs, Martha “Pete” Wallace, and Chrissie Burris; and a son-in-law, Bruce Ford.

Glennara is survived by a son, Thomas “Tom” (& Robin) Buckannan of Dandridge TN; a daughter, Kimberly Ford of Cambridge; a brother, Alben (& Linda) Clarkston of Missouri; her grandchildren, Tammy (& Rodney), Kenny (& Tara), Cassie (& Matt), Dustin (& Stephanie), Christin, Ryan, and Addi; her great-grandchildren, Cody (& Jasmine), Kyle, Josh, Dylan, Dax, Jenson, Luke, Aiden, Ella, Claire, Ethan, Conner, and Phoenix; a great-great-grandchild, Xirean; a sister-in-law, Janet Jones; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends (including all the friends she made at the Senior Center in Dandridge TN), and others whom she loved & thought of as family.

¬Visitation will be held Saturday (JUNE 22, 2024) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor John Carpenter and Pastor Rick Lynch officiating.

Entombment will be at the Northwood Cemetery Mausoleum.

As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Glennara’s name to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
