Goines-Jackson Continues to Represent Muskingum County at Ohio State
COLUMBUS, OH
Now a national champion, offensive lineman Julian Goines-Jackson is back in Columbus to don the scarlet and gray for his senior season, in a dream that has come true for the Zanesville native.
“It means everything. Growing up, watching my dad, Coach Grandstaff, really drive the Zanesville program” says Goines-Jackson.
Ever since childhood, the Zanesville High School grad knew that he always wanted to be a Buckeye. “It was my dream to be a Buckeye, but I knew it started in high school and I knew it started in Muskingum County.”
“From the time I could talk, I was saying the word, ‘Buckeye’, ‘Ohio State’. I wanted to truly be a Buckeye. I bleed scarlet and gray, so to be here is an absolute dream.”
Julian wrapped up his Blue Devils career in 2022, before red-shirting his freshman season at Youngstown State. He then transferred to his favorite team, and was an invited walk-on in June of 2023.
It might have been a challenging route to get there, but Goines-Jackson never forgets where it all started.
He continues, “It really is an honor to come from Muskingum County and be a Buckeye, because not everyone gets to do it. So to be able to take that torch and run with it, it’s an honor.”
Though what lies ahead for the rising senior in Columbus? That remains to be seen.
“Whatever the team needs really, that’s what I’m looking to accomplish. No matter if it’s on scout team, no matter if it’s playing on the field on Saturdays, whatever the team needs, that’s what i’m looking to accomplish this year.”
Goines-Jackson and the rest of the Buckeyes have plenty of spring ball left, including the 2025 “Spring Showcase”, set to take place on Saturday, April 12th at noon from The Shoe.
