Golfer with Zanesville ties set PGA record

HONOLULU – Justin Thomas, whose grandfather was a longtime PGA pro at the Zanesville County Club, set a PGA Tour record Thursday at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
The 23-year-old Thomas, a Louisville native, became the youngest player on the PGA tour to break 60. His 15-foot eagle putt on his last hole secured him a score of 59. He finished the first round atop the leaderboard with a five-stroke lead.
Thomas second round tee off will be at 5:40 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday. Â He will be paired with Jordan Spieth and Daniel Berger and they will start on the front nine.
