Grace United Methodist Church, United Way host Ribbon Cutting for New Community Cupboard

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local Church hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony today for their new Community Cupboard.
Grace United Methodist Church, in partnership with the United Way, opened the Community Cupboard to provide household essentials as well as personal hygiene products to low income families.
Renee Ward, the Director of the Community Cupboard, detailed what can be expected when someone comes to the Cupboard.
“We’ll meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month and we will have two serve times, one from Noon to 2PM, and the other will be from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.” Ward said. “Folks will come in through our lower level doors, they will be greeted, and then they will register by filling out a quick form. They’ll come down the hall and we’ll have personal shoppers to help them pick out their items.”
Ward said the form is very simple, it will ask for your name, address, how many people are in the household, as well as their ages. No proof of income is required.
Karen Montgomery, the Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, said the Community Cupboard was a joint effort and what will really get the Cupboard going is cooperative work.
“Whether you’re a business, a school, a student group, a resource in our community, or an individual. We will take monetary donations.” Montgomery said. “We will accept product donations, if you use it in your home and you think somebody else will, please feel free to donate that.”
The Community Cupboard is located at 516 Shinnick Street, in the basement of Grace United Methodist Church.
