Graduates Facing Tough Job Market

Today’s college graduates are facing a tough job market.

The same holds true for those who graduated today from Zane State College. Congressman Zack Space was the keynote speaker and says times are tough, but not impossible.

“They’re facing a changing world,” said space. “It’s not the way it used to be. It’s important that we adapt and hold on to what’s good about this region and our culture. It’s equally important that we adapt to this changing world.”

Space says it’s important to be optimistic and look to the future.

“These are tough times for America,” he said. “We all know that. We’ve faced tough times before. It doesn’t happen very often, but it’s happening now. We’re going to get out of these tough times and one of the reasons why is what we’re seeing today. They’re bettering themselves through the educational process, creating opportunities for themselves and their families.”

Today 280 students received their diplomas at the ceremony in Littick Hall on Zane State/OUZ’s campus. It was the 39th commencement in the school’s history.
