Gregory A. Morrison, 62, of Dresden, died Monday morning, October 28, 2024, at his home.

Born June 4, 1962, in Zanesville, he was a son of the late Rodney “Jack” and Dorothy (Brooks) Morrison and a 1980 graduate of Tri-Valley High School. Greg was the current Mayor of Dresden and took great pride in his accomplishments of improving the Village. He worked diligently on improving the Dresden Swim Center and the Dresden Cemetery. Greg was a self-employed entrepreneur, owning and operating many businesses in the village over the years. Most currently you would find him behind the counter at the Dresden Tavern which he opened in 2017, and previously he had owned the Pizza Parlor, known to many locals as “Greasy Gregs”. To say Greg had a huge heart would be an understatement, he was a giver and always making sure his family and friends were taken care of.

Surviving are his three siblings, Rod (Stacey) Morrison Jr., Nancy (Les) Shumate and Pam Bice; ten nieces and nephews, J.R. (Kari) Shumate, Ricky Shumate, Jackie (Shane) LeFevre, Melissa Rhodes, Rodney (Kristel) Morrison III, Stacey (Kyle Noland) Morrison, Bransyn Morrison, Wendy (Andy) Shroyer, and Kevin Alexander; several great nieces and nephews; and several great great nieces and nephews; his right-hand man and nephew, Todd (Erica) Alexander and great nephew, Brandon (Elizabeth Davis) Alexander; his two fur companions, CJ and Morris; and lastly his regulars at the Tavern that he called family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by lifelong friend, Dan Roberts; and two fur companions, Lazy and Buddy.

Family and friends may visit 2-4pm & 6-8pm, Monday, November 4, 2024, at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Wells officiating.

Greg will be laid to rest at Dresden Cemetery, Dresden.
