“Grey Gardens” play production at The Zanesville Community Theater
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A film turned play production warmed the hearts of many in the city of Zanesville.
The last showing of “Grey Gardens” took center stage at The Zanesville Community Theater. Director, Eric Blake said the play is based on a 1975 documentary.
“Grey Gardens is an amazing story based on the 1975 documentary that showcased the reckless lives of an aunt and cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The footprint of this show is a big footprint and we’ve got a small space here so we’ve done some creative things on the stage to make room for all of the different scenes,” said Director Eric Blake.
Director Eric Blake said the play has been amazing and served as something new for many in the audience.
“The play has gone amazing. We’ve had a wonderful crowd. They’ve appreciated the fact that this is a show we’ve never seen before and they’ve really never seen anything like it or most people really didn’t know anything about the story. This is actually based on real people’s lives. So they second act of this is completely almost verbatim from the documentary and the first act of the show is all fictional,” said Director Blake.
Next weekend, The Zanesville Community Theater will host auditions for their next upcoming play production. For more information, contact The Zanesville Community Theater.
