Groundhog Day Celebration is around the corner

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Muskingum County Community Foundation has a big event coming up.
The Foundation CEO, Brian Wagner, stopped by Noon Rotary today to talk about the Groundhog Day Celebration. The event will take place this Friday at the OUZ/Zane State Campus Center. Wagner said there are several activities for guests to enjoy.
“We have silent auction, we have a live auction, we have something we call a ‘Golden Ticket’ and it’s not associated with a trip to a chocolate factory. But it does allow the winner to take one of the items off the live auction before it even happens. So if there’s something that you’ve got your eye on, you’ve got that golden ticket and you win it, you don’t even have to worry about bidding. You just go up and say ‘that one is mine’ and you get to go home with it.”
In addition to the food and auctions, there will be an award presentation to honor two philanthropists in the community.
“We’re looking forward to it. Honoring Tom Lyall as the Johnson Civic Leadership Award winner and talking about Ryan Moyer as our Community Leadership Award winner as well. So great opportunity to recognize a couple of the local philanthropists, raise some money, have some fun.”
Wagner also talked to the noon Rotarians about the Community Foundations cornerstones. These are the platforms that the organization covers.
“This is an opportunity that the Foundation has seen through some of its research. Collaborate with other local groups around the community to focus in on arts and culture, education, wellness/recreation, economic vitality, and find projects that reside within those cornerstones that could improve the quality of life within Muskingum County.”
Tickets for the Groundhog Day Celebration are still available. You can purchase them at the MCCF website or at the door. Groundhog Day is January 26th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m..
