ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Wenesday night we had the opportunity to speak with gubernatorial candidate Connie Pillich who is seeking the Democratic nomination for Governor in next year’s election.

A former State House Representative, Pillich served in the legislature from 2009-2014. Visiting Laborers’ Local 530 to speak with the members at their meeting, we asked Pillich what set her apart from the other candidates for the nomination, citing her years of experience in both government, the military and a focus on each the counties within the state.

“I have 15 years of executive experience and I have that mission focus leadership training that you can only get in the officer corps of the armed forces. I spent 8 years on active duty in the Air Force. I have an 88 county strategy I’m not going to leave any county or anybody behind whether it’s on the campaign trail or under my administration,” said Pillich.

A veteran herself Pillich was the ranking member of the Veteran Affairs committee during her 3 terms in the Ohio Statehouse. She marked how important it was to make lives for our veterans easier both before and after deployment.

“I fought to make sure that our veterans and their families were able to deal with the financial strains of deployment and transfers, were able to get back to work quickly when they came back from deployment, and were able to protect themselves should there be some legal issues that happened while they are deployed,” said Pillich.

Ohio’s primary election will take place May 8th of next year. You can find more information on Pillich on her website ConniePillich.com.
