Guernsey County Man Dies in Accident

A Guernsey County man is dead after an early Wednesday morning accident. Highway Patrol Sergeant Melanie Appleman says it happened around 2:45 on Salem Road just south of State Route 265 in Guernsey County. Appleman says 54-year-old Russell Girts of Salesville was in a truck traveling south on Salem Road, went off the right side of the road, hit a guardrail, then went off the left side of the road and hit an embankment. Appleman says alcohol is considered a factor in the crash. Girts was not wearing his seatbelt.
