Guernsey County Man Suspect in Colorado Homicide

Guernsey County- A suspect in a Colorado homicide was taken into custody in Guernsey County.
The Guernsey County Sheriff announced the arrest of 59-year-old Carl “Butch” Hoopingarner at a Buffalo, OH residence after a short standoff.
The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office said they were alerted that Hoopingarner, a Kipling, Ohio native was wanted for questioning in the death of his roommate at a residence in Limon, Colorado early Monday morning. They said they were told he was driving the deceased’s vehicle and was possibly in possession of a firearm.
Investigators found the vehicle at a Buffalo residence partially covered with tarp. They made contact with the homeowner who said the home owner’s girlfriend and Hoppingarner were in the home.
After 30 minutes he surrendered to authorities and was taken to the Guernsey County Jail. He was served an arrest warrant for aggravated trafficking in drugs out of Belmont County. He was also served a first degree murder arrest warrant from the incident in Colorado. He’s being held in the county jail awaiting further court proceedings.
