Guernsey County Samaritan Center to Host Night in a Box
CAMBRIDGE, OH – One night outside is helping shine a light on those without a place to call home.
The Samaritan Center of Guernsey County is hosting its Night in a Box fundraiser on October 3rd in front of the Guernsey County courthouse. Participants will spend the night outside to help raise awareness about homelessness in the community.
“We will have conversation leaders placed out throughout the evening. There will be people with guitars and just staying up, having conversations, and spending the night outside to raise awareness.” Stephanie Laube, the Board President said.
The eveing begins at 6 p.m. and typically wraps up around 3 or 4 the next morning. There will also be live music and pizza provided throughout the night.
“You’ll see some boxes and sometimes people bring tents. This is definitely in no way intended to indicate how those unhoused live in our community. We know that this is not realistic because we have folks that bring us pizza and things like that. So, it’s strictly to raise awareness that there is housing insecurity.” Laube said.
The Samaritan Center has been helping local individuals and families transition into permanent, safe housing since 2008.
