GUERNSEY COUNTY, OH- The Ohio State Highway Patrol in Guernsey County is kicking off their first service initiative as a way to show their partnership with other local law enforcement agencies.

The initiative is an effort to reduce fatal crashes by increasing the visibility of law enforcement on the roadways, while also removing impaired drivers and illicit drugs from the roadways.

“It’s extremely important, any time you lose a life, a life is lost, there is many many people that are affected by it, whether it’s the family, friends, even the first responders,” Ohio State Highway Patrol Cambridge Post Lieutenant, Todd Henry said.

Memorial Day through Labor Day is referred to as the 100 Deadliest Days due to the increased risk of fatal crashes. Since 2019 there has been over 1,700 crashes that have caused injuries in Guernsey County, and over 30 crashes that involved fatalities.

“Just know that we’re out here for you and know that we care, every life lost means something to us,” said Henry.

Please remember to stay focused while driving and if you want to report any kind of erratic behavior you may see on the roadways you can call #677. By working together, we can help to keep our roadways safe.
