Guernsey Sheriff’s Office says Woman Fabricated Assault
A two month long investigation into an alleged sexual assault by the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office is over.
The sheriff’s office said the reported victim in the case admitted the assault story was fabricated. Sheriff’s detectives questioned the woman this week and found a number of factors in her story didn’t add up and noted she was under considerable emotional stress.
The search for a suspect has been called off. The sheriff’s office said no charges will be filed against the woman.
Reports from February 21st, the day the alleged incident took place show that troopers from the Cambridge Post of the State Highway Patrol responded to Wintergreen Road, north of Lore City, after they received a report of a woman lying in the roadway.
When they arrived the 27-year-old Bellaire woman, badly beaten and incoherent was questioned by ambulance workers.
That’s when she told deputies she’d been assaulted by an unknown assailant.
