Guernsey County Woman Arrested

A woman wanted on charges of rape in Guernsey County is now in custody.

The Guernsey County Sheriff said that 45-year-old Melanie Young was placed in custody in Meigs County.

Guernsey County Sheriff Jeffrey Paden said Young is facing 18 felony charges including the rape of a 3-year-old female, attempted rape, 14 counts of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity oriented material or performance and two counts of pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor or impaired person.

A co-defendant in the case, Michael Smith remains in the Guernsey County Jail on a $2.5 million bond.
