ZANESVILLE, OH – Today is International Women’s Day.

It’s also national women in construction week.

To celebrate the day, Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio invited women making a difference in the community to help work on a home on Luck Ave in Zanesville.

Cindy Baker, the CEO of Quality Care Partners, said today was about giving back.

“We all have roots in the community,” Baker said. “We’re very proud of it, we want to see people prosper and do what’s best for each other. It’s from our heart to the people who will be able to take advantage of these houses.”

Biatta Grimes, the Volunteer Coordinator with Habitat for Humanity, said this would not have been possible without the community’s support.

“Our community is such a gracious partner,” Grimes said. “From the city, to the women, to the businesses, to the churches, individuals. We come together just to build a stronger community.”

Some of the organizations represented today were The Animal Shelter Society, Eastside Community Ministry, Quality Care Partners, North Valley Bank, Grace United Methodist Church, and Mideast.
