ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Kiwanis Club of Zanesville took to Main Street on Friday for the annual peanut sale.

According to Tony Palmer, a member of the local Kiwanis Club, the peanut sale is one of their biggest fundraisers of the year. You can find members of the Key Club and Builders Club on Main Street by the 5th, 6th, and 7th Street intersections selling peanuts for donations.

The Key Club is the Kiwanis Club’s organization for high school students and the Builders Club is for middle school students. The proceeds primarily go towards funding the annual Kiwanis Club of Zanesville’s Christmas party.

“… we invite elementary-age kids from all the local schools to come and presents are given, a meal is provided, and we bring out some beloved Christmas characters like Santa and Frosty and Rudolph. And it’s just a great time to come together and be able to provide such a great Christmas experience for local elementary school kids,” Palmer said.

According to the local Kiwanis Club, this fundraiser brings in around $11,000 for their Christmas party. Palmer says the community support helps the club go further in its mission.

“Having the community support on this is great. The more community support we have, the more kids we’re able to support with funds and service and the Christmas party and all of that,” Palmer said. “So it’s a great opportunity to be able to tie the community into what we do as a club but also to have our face out there as that Kiwanis Club.”

The Kiwanis Club Peanut Sale continues tomorrow from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Learn more by following the Kiwanis Club of Zanesville on Facebook.
