Health Centers One Step Closer to New Building

The Muskingum Valley Health Centers are one step closer to a new home in Zanesville.

The health centers have secured an unidentified property, donated by the owner, which is located within two miles of downtown. CEO of Muskingum Valley Health Centers Lisa King says the next step is securing a sizeable grant to pay for the construction.

“Recently a grant was made for approximately 100 community health centers to get grants in the amount of about $5 – $6 million on average,” said King.

King says the facility could potentially allow to add 20 more people, making the staff total close to 90. She says the new building would also house many healthcare needs under one roof.

“Right now we have mental health, prenatal, pediatric and adult health services. We offer dental health downtown,” she said. “What we would be able to do is bring all of those in house under one roof.”

This isn’t the only project for the health centers. They continue to work on a free standing building in Malta.

The centers recently received $200,000 for staffing and $650,000 for the completion of the building. That project will start construction this fall.
