Henry Madinger

Henry Jacob Madinger Jr., 78, of Nashport, died at 3:28 P.M. on Sunday, January 12, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 18, 1947, in Zanesville, a son of the late Henry Jacob Sr. and Velma (Vaughn) Madinger. After school Henry attended college for a time and then made the decision to live a life of service dedicating twenty-eight years to the United States Navy. After retiring from the Navy he spent several years in the reserves then later retired from TenCate Advanced Armor USA. Henry held several positions of leadership as Master of Jackson Lodge #85 and past Grand Patron of Amaranth Zane Court #36 and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #486, Brownsville Chapter. Henry was a jack of all trades, master of none and was equally skilled at working with both wood and metal. He saw much in his day, and had been around the world, halfway both ways. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Sharon (Harper) Madinger, whom he married on July 7, 1968; a daughter Erica (Earl) Madinger-Norris; estranged son, Brian Madinger; five grandchildren, Brian Joseph, Emily Madinger of Thornhill, TN, and Destiny and Mia Norris of Cambridge; extra daughter, Debie Cox; bonus grandchildren, Preston Ferrell of Hawaii and Danielle Flesher; and lastly his furry friends, Buddy and Duck.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by sisters, Thelma Mohr and Shirley Hoover.
Friends and family may call from on 5:00 P.M. until time of Masonic service at 7:00 P.M. followed by Amaranth Service, Thursday, January 15, 2026 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. Henry will be laid to rest beside his parents at Zanesville Memorial Park with Edie Miller officiating at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Henry’s memory to, The Animal Shelter Society at 1430 Newark Rd. Zanesville OH. 43701 or Amaranth Scholarship and envelopes will be provided.
