High school basketball player of the week – Taylar Slaughter

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio — Cambridge freshman Taylar Slaughter has been voted as our high school basketball “Player of the Week.”
Slaughter, on her way to helping the Bobcats to a 3-0 record for the week, scored 24, 21, and 16-points in games against Barnesville, Dover, and Zanesville. Cambridge is currently 8-0 on the season.
Complimenting their team chemistry and unselfish play, Slaughter said that the faith her teammates have in her, and the leadership provided by the upperclassmen, has provided her with the confidence to know she can make a big impact on the team.
“Well we have really good team chemistry. I think when we play it all comes out on the court,” Slaughter said.
She added that it’s nice to have a big presence inside like Lilly Ritz to help create some open shots for her.
“It’s nice to have a dominate player like Lilly inside to get outside shots sometimes.”
And when it comes to expectations for her team this season, Slaughter isn’t shy about admitting that she think her team has what it takes to win their league and make a deep run.
“I think we’re good, I think we got it. Honestly, we’re 8-0. I think we have a good chance to win the league and I think we can go far.”
The Cambridge Lady Bobcats continue their season on Saturday afternoon when they host Union Local at Gene Ford Gymnasium at 1PM. Next week, Cambridge travels to New Philadelphia on Wednesday, and is at River View on Saturday, Jan. 6th.
