Holiday Things To Do Around Muskingum County

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The holidays can provide plenty of hustle and bustle with all of the shopping and errands but there’s plenty of local leisures that can offer a little reprieve from all the rush. 

Zanesville and Muskingum County Convention and Visitors Bureau Manager Jordin Harmer explained how local events and businesses adapt to the holiday season by embracing the holiday spirit.

“There is lots to do in Muskingum County right now,” Harmer said. “Right now, all the way to the end of the year there’s an abundance of activities for families, really for all ages. Some of our larger events are in our Storybook Christmas booklet that we publish every year. And that includes five village parades, carriage rides, trolley rides, lots of different attraction events. But we also have lots of other smaller events in our villages.”

Sometimes finding that perfect gift can be daunting but the next few weekends will offer several craft shows and bazaars that will offer plenty of baked goods and unique gift items that might prove to be more touching than what any of the major retail stores could offer.

“So coming to Muskingum County during the holiday season, it’s the perfect weekend getaway. So visitors can come and they can spend time downtown Zanesville and our villages, stroll through Dresden and look at some of the Longaberger and Dresden and Co. baskets. Just really make it… make a weekend out of it and enjoy our unique dining opportunities,” Harmer said.
